Free IT Help Office Hours

Tuesday, December 55:00—8:00 PMChildren's Program RoomFiske Public Library110 Randall Road, Wrentham, MA, 02093

The Fiske Public Library is hosting Free IT Help “Office Hours” with IT expert Ben Elliot who will be available to help with personal technology related issues in an informal setting. Ben is available at the Fiske Public Library on a first come, first serve basis Tuesday evenings from 5pm to 7:45pm.

Some example uses for these office hours might be:

Education

*How to use Websites/Apps/Computers/Phones/Tablets/Smart Watches/etc. (Including that gift you just got for the holidays or a Birthday)

*How to manage Emails and clean up a messy inbox by deleting in bulk and unsubscribing (1000+ emails is a scary thing to see every day)

*How to get photos from your phone/computer onto something physical like a photo album with help from a USB Drive (AKA Thumb Drive/Flash Drive) and Walmart for a thoughtful holiday gift

*How to manage passwords securely and easily for those HUNDREDS of logins we all have by using password managers (like the one in your web browser or my favorite: Bitwarden)

*IT Experimenting - time to just play around and test things with the reassurance that someone can support you if you run into issues

Research

*Support for finding the resources needed to learn complex tools/skills like spreadsheets, programming, video editing, etc.

*Help finding technology that will meet your needs and some starting price estimates

*Help identifying files on your device so you can organize/delete them without worry

Tech Support

*Diagnosing and finding solutions to any and all issues like slow speeds, unwanted pop-ups, security concerns, computer not booting, can’t connect to Wifi, etc

*PC tune ups and maintenance

*Password resets for locked Computers (For when you just can’t find that password!)

*Recovering deleted files (Luck may required here)

*Virus removal/prevention

*Migrating to a new phone/computer

Referrals

*Recommendations to websites, nearby vendors, or more if something requires more specialized professional help

Some examples of how I will NOT be using this time would be:

Large, resource-intensive projects

*Building Websites, Apps, etc (Though I can help get your research started and find resources!)

*Doing bulk services for commercial gain (These hours are for Residential IT only)

*Dishonest/Illegal activities

*Cheating on homework assignments by doing them for you (Though I can provide guidance)

*Stealing, hacking, breaking into phones/computers
